This year our costumes were football themed. Andrew and Rome were football players, I was the ref and Mason was a football.
I am so in love with this little boy. I cannot even fathom the idea of life without him. He is the happiest/cutest baby I think I've ever seen! Here are just a few things about our little Mase:

-at birth he weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long. At two weeks he was 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 1/4 inches long.
- snorts when he gets really mad
-finally starting to like bath time
-loves to hold on to your finger
-loves to be held and cuddled
-smiles a lot now both when awake and asleep
-sleeps with his mouth open the majority of the time
-can roll from his back to his stomach
-if he's lying on his back and you hold his hands, he tries to pull himself up into a sitting position and then he will stand
-loves his binky
-loved to be swaddled as a newborn. Not so much anymore
-ticklish on his thighs and his belly
-he can be a little dramatic at times. He fake coughs and fake cries
-very alert and interactive and tries to talk to everyone
-used to cry every time he was naked or had to have his diaper changed. Now it's the complete opposite. He cries when you try to dress him!
-he can be very serious and looks as though he studies and analyzes everything he looks at
-loves to stare at light fixtures and windows, and is obsessed with ceiling fans
-loves to eat! When he wants food he wants it now
-loves to look at books and be read to
-loves to listen to music. It calms him
-never stops moving his arms and legs.. Even in his sleep
-he now hates to nap during the day and will fight it with all of his might
-he has to have his hands by his face pretty much at all times
-loves to be outside
-has figured out he can laugh and makes all sorts of yelling/silly noises
-really good at ripping my hair out
-at 3 months old he weighs about 13 pounds.. He's a chunk!
-he sleeps best if he has a binky, blanket, and his soft blue doggie stuffed animal
-still has a ton of dark hair, which he wears in a fo-hawk everyday
-gets tired and goes to sleep around 9, then wakes up at 3:30, 5:30, and 7:30 to eat and change diaper, then goes right back to sleep
-loves watching shows on the iPad, like Thomas the engine, franklin, and his favorite of all is the baby beluga song
-he's a total ladies' man
-loves to hold his rattle toy and shake it like crazy. Hits himself in the head sometime
- loves to smile and laugh when you smile at him
-tries to suck his thumb but mostly just gets his hold hand in his mouth
-likes to watch football with his dad, loves staring at that screen
-he's not quite sure what Rome is yet, but he likes to watch him. Rome loves to sit by Mase and give him kisses. One day they will be besties.
-he was blessed in the same outfit that his dad wore 25 years ago!
-he has big brown eyes and a smile that will melt your heart
I was the first mom to arrive at the hospital and the very last one to deliver. But since you asked, this is how it went. On Sunday night July 14 I was induced. I was given three rounds of cytotec to get things going. It was a very long night! I burned through 3 movies as I lied in a hospital bed in pain. I laughed every time the nurse would come in and tell me to try and get some sleep. Not possible when you are 8 days past your due date, having to pee every five minutes, feeling cramps and contractions, starving because you're only allowed to eat popsicles, jello, and water all while lying in a hospital bed with a thousand gadgets hooked to your body and an annoying blood pressure cuff that must go off every 15 minutes! Sleep? I don't even know what that means.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Finally 8 am Monday morning rolled around and my water broke. I was so shocked that my body decided to do something on its own. I was pretty sure of two things: 1) I lost about ten pounds right there and 2) Mason was always meant to be born on July 15. However, I still had a long way to go because I was only dialated at a 2.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At 10 am they put me on pitocin and this really got the contractions going. Boy did I have strong ones. By 1 pm I was only at a 4 but got the very well deserved epidural. I had gone through nearly 18 hours of pain. The instant relief was amazing until my blood pressure dropped extremely low. I was having a hard time breathing so they put me on oxygen and I just remember feeling so weak I could barely keep my eyes open. Mason was not handling the drug well either so a few minutes later they injected me with something that boosted my blood pressure back to normal. The next 4 hours of my life I got to love pain free, but Mason was still not doing so well so about every 20 minutes the nurse would come in and help me switch positions to see if we could get him feeling better.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At 5 pm I was only dialated to a 5 and my dr came in and let me know that we would have to do a c-section. A lot of time had passed and the baby and I were both in distress so it was the best thing to do. A part of me always knew that I would have to have a c-section, but I still wasn't prepared for it.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once again the anesthesiologist came in and gave me even more powerful drugs. This time my entire body was numb. I don't think I have ever been more scared in my life. It was all very surreal watching Andrew dress in the blue surgical gown, being wheeled into the operating room and staring up at the huge blinding lights as they strapped my arms down out to the side of me. It was the first major surgery I've ever had and there is nothing pleasant at the thought of having your stomach ripped open, but all I really cared about was that Mason was healthy.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It only took a few minutes until I heard Mason's cry. I was bawling and said to Andrew, "Is he cute? Does he have hair?" Both to which he replied yes with tears streaming down his face. In the 7 years I've known Andrew I have never seen him shed a tear until that moment. I'll never forget the image of our baby (aka mini Andrew) that had just come from heaven in Andrew's arms as he brought him over to me so I could see him. It was incredible!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I was dying to hold my baby but it took another 30-40 minutes for the doctors to finish up the surgery. During this process I started to feel a lot of undescribable pain so they had to give me more numbing medicine. Even though I was completely loopy and puking, I have never been happier! I don't think I stopped crying for the next hour haha. I was so incredibly happy to finally have a healthy baby boy in my arms and to have an amazing husband who didn't leave my side once. All 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches of him were absolutely perfect. He immediately brought so much joy to our lives. We just kept looking at him and saying, "we made this!" "He is ours forever!" He may have been stubborn every second in the womb, but he is seriously the sweetest baby in the world that will steal your heart with one look into his eyes.
My dr has been calling this baby stubborn ever since I was 8 weeks pregnant. I should have known he would be exactly like his father :) Because of those stubborn genes I get the joy of being pregnant for 41 weeks by the time I actually have him. I like to look at it as my superhero moment in life. At least I know my baby has a sense of humor as well. I'm convinced this is my punishment for Joking the entire pregnancy that my labor and delivery story..ahem nightmare, would go like this:
I would be alone somewhere miles away from the hospital when my water breaks. Andrew would either be in the middle of a test at school, unreachable at work, his phone would be dead, or he'd be so focused on his game of mushroom wars with his phone nowhere in hearing distance right when I need him most. Naturally I would have to drive myself to the hospital only to have my car break down or run out of gas, and I would have to walk barefoot (because my shoes don't fit) in the down pour that just started. I would reach the hospital and Andrew would show up after its all over.
At least my son has made sure that my labor would be scheduled for induction on a nice Sunday summer evening when there is no class, tests, work, or anything to do at all besides patiently wait around all day together. If anything, he scored me an extra awesome push present from his father. And maybe he truly did have his mommas back and just knew I would feel a lot better with a plan and time to get everything organized.
Although I might be an anxiety attack waiting to happen tomorrow, if 41 weeks is what my little prince needed to be perfectly healthy and happy then I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Now on to enjoying my last weekend of freedom as I know it!

I hope! It's 100 percent true that the last few weeks of pregnancy are the hardest! I am dragging my kankles around every day hoping that each pain I feel will be the start of the end of this journey. So far not much has happened! Baby boy is clearly a little too comfy in there and feels the need to be a typical man and make a woman wait.

The nursery is almost completely organized to my liking, the hospital bags are packed, the car seat is ready to be thrown in the car, and my emotions are all over the place! I have been telling Andrew for the past couple of weeks that it is crunch time and we have to be ready. He replied with, "oh great you have that disease." Yes he means the completely normal disease called nesting! And thats when I said good riddance thank goodness for mommies!

It's crazy to think that 9 months ago I was staring at a little plus sign and now I'm staring at a big round belly that feels like It's hanging to my knees! Pregnancy is beautiful yet challenging so here is what I hope to be the the last pregnancy update:

-Our son's name is Mason
-I am a hot swollen mess in this heat!
-I officially haven't thrown up in 9 weeks
-Mason has way more clothes than I do
-It's funny to watch my stomach when he gets the hiccups, and the feeling makes me laugh
-His movements now are very visible and it's hilarious/weird to watch my whole stomach move
-In fact the best part of the day is feeling him move around.. even if it is more like powerful blows to my ribs and bladder
-Mason is already so loved by so many people that it brings tears to my eyes
-I hardly sleep anymore and can't possibly imagine being more exhausted than I am now. The scary thing is I know I will be
-Wearing clothes at this point is just plain uncomfortable
-I have learned to never point my toes to stretch especially when I'm sleeping because this triggers a Charlie horse in about 1 second
-It's ok to demand a back and foot rub everyday. Sometimes that is the only thing that keeps you sane
-I am so anxious to meet my little guy that it seems like he'll never get here!
-The best advice I have gotten and would give to all is to do what YOU feel is right and what YOU feel is best. Someone is always going to have an opinion. Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-30213308235468456052013-05-12T10:30:00.001-07:002013-05-12T19:54:12.228-07:00Pregnancy update!Well I have entered the third trimester. Yes already! The uncomfortable, unattractive, ornery stage as I call it. Part of me feels like it has gone by kind of fast. I am so excited to meet my little miracle, but boy growing a human is kind of hard sometimes! I am thankfully past the puking two or three times a day part, but here are just a few of the joys that the third trimester brings. Read it and weep for me.

1. I finally have a little bit of energy, but I've still never been more tired in my entire life!
2. I have more of an appetite. I no longer have to plug my nose every time I open the refrigerator, mostly just in the morning. It's amazing to be able to eat without fearing what it's going to taste like coming back up.
3. My little boy moves like crazy! In fact I feel like he does a full tae bo class in there each day and I'm almost positive my ribs are going to break at any second. The song, "hey I heard you were a wild one," is a perfect understatement. We are gonna be in trouble!
4. Just when I thought it was getting hard to move in general, it just keeps getting harder.
5. My saving grace was my air mattress until it got a hole. I refuse to believe it popped due to weight gain! I had the best sleep on that thing. I didn't feel hardly any hip or back pain. Oh the days.
6. Food cravings: Mexican food, fruit smoothies, and Popsicles.
7. I now randomly get Charlie horse like leg cramps in the middle of the night. Freaking hate those!
8. Just recently acquired heartburn! I have never ever had this before so thank you webmd and tums for the help on that one.
9. The hardest thing I've had to do so far: find a name that Andrew and I both agree on. That aged me about ten years.
10. Now that its getting warmer outside, I have started puffing up like a blow fish. Could this be one of the reasons people hate being pregnant during summer??
11. Apparently I have a slight waddle in my walk now..
12. Two words: baby brain. It's a real thing! I can't remember anything anymore.
13. The power of the fetus is also a real thing. If baby wants it, mommy gets it. Hehe.

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-51090340195691029232013-03-10T13:31:00.003-07:002013-05-09T13:09:18.012-07:00Life moves so fast<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Has it really been three years?? On Feb 24 we celebrated our 3 year anniversary. it was a low key celebration, but that's what happens when you get married in the middle of the semester and your wife is 4 months pregnant. In those 3 years we have traveled a ton, bought a house and a puppy, have a baby on the way, and experienced more happiness and love than I could have ever imagined! I really couldn't ask for a better life or a better husband.
A week later my little Roman turned 1! He's no longer the little puppy that would have to stop and take a rest on the way to the mailbox, or afraid to jump off of anything higher than 5 inches. He has now graduated to being able to run a marathon, eat everything in sight, steal clothes, shoes, keys, wallets etc just to watch me waddle around in confusion. But he is very protective of me and really a sweetheart. Oh how I love my little fluff ball!
And on top of all of that I just barely turned a quarter of a century/halfway to 50. It was probably the greatest bday I've had yet. I think I'll turn 25 every year from now on :)

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-51122759668129576992013-02-22T19:29:00.000-08:002013-02-22T19:29:36.988-08:00Watch out world! Baby Pollock is on the way!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Rewind to Halloween night when we sat at home and passed out candy while watching What To Expect When You're Expecting. Ya I had no idea I was watching the next 9 months of my life! A few days later I found myself staring at that little plus sign in complete awe. I always imagined being able to tell Andrew in a clever way that we were pregnant and I never imagined he'd be more calm in the situation. Instead it went like this:
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Me running downstairs with the stick
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Andrew: staring at it for a very long time, and finally saying, "I don't get it."
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Me: "There is a plus sign man! A plus sign!"
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Andrew: "Take another one!!"
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">4 tests later... My ego is definitely prego!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There is nothing quite like the moment you find out a human is growing inside of you and hearing the heart beat for the first time is enough to make anyone cry! Even though the past few months have been an exhausting blur with my head in the toilet for most of it, I cannot wait for July 7 to be here so we can meet our sweet little baby! I couldn't be happier that we are finally going to have our own little family and I get to teach the little offspring everything I know!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">By the way we found out.......
Holy bloggage! I am so far behind so this should be fun.

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Let me start clear back on Fathers Day.. when Andrew became a first time father to our little puppy Rome! It was Father's Day Eve around midnight, I was falling asleep to a movie and Andrew suddenly wakes me up to show me a picture of a puppy he found on ksl. He being the extreme impulsive person he is said we should go get him right away. I looked at the time and said there is no way I am calling these people at midnight and I'm tired! But then he showed me the ksl post that said, "we stay up until 3 a.m. and we would love it if the puppy were gone tonight!" haha that's not even a joke. So we talked about it for a minute and I agreed to make the drive to north Salt Lake to see him. As soon as we pulled up the couple came out with the little white heavenly ball of fluff and I was immediately sold! He was the cutest thing I had ever seen! He was only $100 too so he became our little bargain puppy and we rode off into the night sky... jk we actually drove straight to Petsmart because we had absolutely nothing to take care of a dog.

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Ever since I can remember I have wanted a white fluffy dog and now I have one and I am completely obsessed with him! We went through about one hundred names before we settled on Rome. I was half asleep and mentioned Romeo and Andrew said that was the gayest thing he has ever heard, and then Rome just kind of stuck. Now I have become one of those crazy dog people and take a ton of pictures of him, let him sleep on my bed, let him sit on my lap while I drive, talk about him like he's my baby, and I would put him in my purse if he weren't so big, and I will put him in outfits when Andrew is out of town lol.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">He is such a fun little addition to our family. Andrew says he bought him so that I wouldn't want a real baby for a while (not working by the way) and I think he bought him so that he could have one more day in the year to get presents. Either way he's the best/cutest dog in the world!!!

He definitely needs a haircut! But isn't he a muffin?!
Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-17156451982923344762012-05-15T20:22:00.001-07:002012-05-15T20:23:07.952-07:00Home Sweet Home<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We've been living in our house for about three weeks now and I can officially say that everything is put away and it is clean.. for at least a few more hours. Andrew even managed to put only one hole in the wall! Accomplishment!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I must say I have never spent so much time at Home Depot in my whole life than I have this past month. I even asked for a gift card to Home Depot for my birthday.. what?? We have already started a project in the bathroom that I cannot wait to get done! It is so much fun to be able to make things look exactly as I want, and its going to look so sweet! Every day my mind runs wild with the changes I want to make to this place, especially getting rid of wallpaper.. I am beyond hate for wallpaper right now. I don't think Andrew is prepared for my list of projects, but so far he's done an A+ job at going along with it. Although he's trying to bring all of his dressers and nightstands (yes there are multiple) and "lucky" rabbit furs into our bedroom, I have to remind him that the man cave is down the hall and the bedroom is the lady cave. We're still working on that one!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So far our ward seems like a really great place. Everyone is so nice and I think we will fit in nicely. I've acutally been able to enjoy relief society. For the past long while I've been in primary, although I do love the primary, it has been fun to get to know people my age and all of the neighborhood ladies. We have some really great neighbors too that we have already become friends with.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Our favorite things so far:
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">using the grill
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">laying out on the patio
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">sliding down the banister
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">being able to park in a garage
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">having plenty of storage space
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">the loft
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">the bathroom sink (its a bowl sink that sits on top of the countertop and has a waterfall faucet, Andrew picked it out. Its pretty awesome)
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">having a yard (I love this because Andrew really loves doing all of the yard work)
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">the lawn mower (that I guess feels like its floating on air)
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I also really love that it finally feels like we're not pretending to play house anymore. Having a real house, a real yard, and so much needed space is a great feeling. This is like the third time we've moved in two years, so I am loving the stability of knowing that we'll be here for a while, we'll be in this ward for a long period of time, and we'll make really great freinds. We are so blessed to have been able to find our perfect home and its going to be a perfect place to start a family. I'm not announcing anything... yet!

A house! thats right we are now the proud owners of a perfect little home. We're going back to the west side where we belong.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I call it my little gingerbread house. The keys landed into our hot little hands last night and we couldn't be more excited! Its a very surreal feeling but we can't wait to say goodbye to apartment life. I can already picture the summer tanning sessions on the deck, the bbqs, new traditions and one day a little family of our own. Yay for houses and birthdays :)Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-69047673392260622182012-02-25T09:33:00.004-08:002012-04-03T20:10:57.482-07:002 Years!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Two years ago Feb 24 I made the best decision of my life. I married the most amazing person I've ever known!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have never laughed so hard, cared for someone so much, or felt so much happiness than I have the past two years. Every day is an adventure and I wouldn't trade a single one.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love Andrew because...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">he is my rock when I am breaking down
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">he is almost always the first to apologize
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">he always makes sure I'm taken care of and happy before he thinks of himself
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love him because...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">he has stood by me through every good and bad day
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He has a way of knowing just the right thing to say and a way of finding humor in everything
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love him because...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He always has a surprise up his sleeve
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He listens to me
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He appreciates me
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love his musical talent
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">His passionate and caring heart
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">and his spirituality
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I fall in love with him again every day
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Happy two years and eternity to go!!!!Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-23455805731149223062012-01-29T15:21:00.000-08:002012-02-05T15:08:52.916-08:00A Christmas in HawaiiYou may now call us Linake and Analu. Those are our Hawaiian names.
Thanks to Andrew's dad and step mom we got to go to Hawaii the day after Christmas! Can I just say it is the best feeling to pack summer clothes and swimsuits in the middle of winter! Luckily I slept just about the entire way there. I woke up just in time to see the lava rock filled ground below. And much to our surprise Berta from Two and a Half Men was on our flight! The airport in Kona is literally surrounded by nothing but black lava rock and weeds. Not exactly how I pictured Hawaii. But as we drove further into town it got greener, more tropical, and absolutely beautiful. Our first night there we went out to dinner and then the exhaustion took over and we headed back to our hotel for some sleep. Kona is three hours behind Utah. I didn't think that only 3 hours would make that big of a difference, but it did! We got so tired around 9 every night and kept waking up at 5.
Who gets to spend their 24th birthday in Hawaii?? This spoiled kid and his eternal plus one. During the day we hung out at the beach and Andrew and his dad did some snorkeling. I'm not much of a water person.. ok lets be honest, big bodies of water terrify me so I spent most of my time relaxing on the beach and loved every second. But by end of the beach trip I got brave and walked waist deep into the water, with Andrew holding my hand and I saw a huge sea turtle! It was so cute and just floating along with the waves. That night we went to a luau for Andrew's birthday celebration. We watched as they dug the pig out of the pit. It was nasty looking, but really tasted very good. As we ate we watched the hula girls dance away and the fire throwers do some amazing tricks. It was a really fun experience.

We decided to take a road trip to the other side of the island, Hilo, which is where the waterfalls and volcanoes are. It took about three hours to get there. It really is the exact opposite of Kona. Hilo is very wet, muggy, and rainforesty. We hiked through the rainforest and saw the huge waterfall. It was really neat! There are some crazy cool plants there that I have never ever seen anywhere else. It was beautiful!
We could see the tip of it from our hotel so we decided we would walk there. The walk was literally up hill for 20 minutes straight! A very steep hill. At nine in the morning it was already bloody hot and here we are trying to run up this hill, because (a) we didn't really know where we were going and (b) we were running late... as usual. But we finally made it! The temple is absolutley beautiful, and very small. There were a total of 9 people in our session. Much different than what we're used to here in SLC. But it was still very powerful and spiritual and I am so glad we had the opportunity to go.

They shine light into the ocean at night which brings up the mantarays. Some crazy people even snorkel out there with them. Let me tell you they were enourmous! Their wing span was like 6 feet. It was pretty neat.

Saturday was our last day in paradise. We went out with one last bang. We kayaked about a mile or more across the ocean to this little bay where we snorkeled. Let me rephrase that: as we were kayaking I was trying very hard not to have a panic attack. I was trying not to think about shark attacks and being tipped over and eaten to death. I wanted to enjoy the fun excursion. It was exhausting! At one point I was feeling sorry for myself because my arms were about to fall off and I hear Andrew behind me say, "You're doing great, we're almost there keep going." I thought, hmm how nice of him to support me because I am on the verge of freaking out here. And I look back and he has his ore on his lap, his hands behind his head, his eyes are closed and he's enjoying the ride!!! lol. Such a terd! Who knows how long I paddled all by myself. Other times our oars would collide, or he would lift his so high he would hit me on the back of the head (purposely). Yeah.. we should probably never consider any type of water sports competitively. Its a miracle we ever made it to the bay. Andrew and his dad went out for more snorkeling and I was told myself I had to do it! I was in Hawaii and I had to snorkel. So I put on my life jacket and mask and flopped in to the water. I was doggy paddling in there for about 15 seconds before I panicked. I saw a bunch of bright blue and bright yellow fish and the coral was awesome, until I smacked my knee on a piece and it hurt so bad! I then turned around and was surround my big black sea urchins bigger than my face! I freaked out and yelled at Andrew, please get me out of here!!!! That was enough for me. I saw what I needed to see. It really and truly is a whole new world under there. We immediately jumped in to the kayak and I have never paddled so fast in my life. I broke down in the middle of the ocean out of fear. Not a proud moment, but I think I paddled us back to our starting point in record time. I'm glad I at least tried to conquer my fear. The rest of the day we lounged until we had to head to the airport for the long journey home.

Once it's your turn, you check for feet under the stall doors. Every stall is occupied. Finally, a door opens and you dash in, nearly knocking down the woman leaving the stall.

You get in to find the door won't latch. It doesn’t matter, the wait has been so long you are about to wet your pants! The dispenser for the modern ‘seat covers' (invented by someone's Mom, no doubt) is handy, but empty. You would hang your purse on the door hook, if there was one, but there isn't - so you carefully, but quickly drape it around your neck, (Your Mom would turn over in her grave if you put it on the FLOOR! ), yank down your pants, and assume ' The Stance.'

In this position your aging, toneless thigh muscles begin to shake.. You'd love to sit down, but you certainly hadn't taken time to wipe the seat or lay toilet paper on it, so you hold ‘The Stance.'

To take your mind off your trembling thighs, you reach for what you discover to be the empty toilet paper dispenser. In your mind, you can hear your mother's voice saying, 'Honey, if you had tried to clean the seat, you would have KNOWN there was no toilet paper!' Your thighs shake more.

You remember the tiny tissue that you blew your nose on yesterday - the one that's still in your purse. (Oh yeah, the purse around your neck, that now, you have to hold up trying not to strangle yourself at the same time). That would have to do. You crumple it in the puffiest way possible. It's still smaller than your thumbnail

Someone pushes your door open because the latch doesn’t work. The door hits your purse, which is hanging around your neck in front of your chest, and you and your purse topple backward against the tank of the toilet 'Occupied!' you scream, as you reach for the door, dropping your precious,tiny, crumpled tissue in a puddle on the floor, lose your footing
altogether, and slide down directly onto the TOILET SEAT ..

It is wet of course. You bolt up, knowing all too well that it's too late.Your bare bottom has made contact with every imaginable germ and life form on the uncovered seat because YOU never laid down toilet paper - not that there was any, even if you had taken time to try. You know that your mother would be utterly appalled if she knew, because, you're certain her bare bottom never touched a public toilet seat because, frankly, dear, 'You just don't KNOW what kind of diseases you could get.'

By this time, the automatic sensor on the back of the toilet is so confused that it flushes, propelling a stream of water like a fire hose against the inside of the bowl that sprays a fine mist of water that covers your butt and runs down your legs and into your shoes. The flush somehow sucks everything down with such force that you grab onto the empty toilet paper
dispenser for fear of being dragged in too.

At this point, you give up. You're soaked by the spewing water and the wet toilet seat. You’re exhausted. You try to wipe with a gum wrapper you found in your pocket and then slink out inconspicuously to the sinks..

You can’t figure out how to operate the faucets with the automatic sensors, so you wipe your hands with spit and a dry paper towel and walk past the line of women still waiting.

You are no longer able to smile politely to them.. A kind soul at the very end of the line points out a piece of toilet paper trailing from your shoe. (Where was that when you NEEDED it??)

You yank the paper from your shoe, plunk it in the woman's hand and tell her warmly, 'Here, you just might need this.'

As you exit, you spot your hubby, who has long since entered, used, and left the men’s restroom. Annoyed, he asks, 'What took you so long and why is your purse hanging around your neck?'

This is dedicated to women everywhere who deal with public restrooms (rest??? You've GOT to be kidding!!). It finally explains to the men whatreally does take us so long. It also answers their other commonly asked questions about why women go to the restroom in pairs. It's so the other gal can hold the door, hang onto your purse and hand you Kleenex under the
door! Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-24704818851429223802011-12-04T12:11:00.000-08:002011-12-04T14:35:49.974-08:00Go Grizzlies!<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">About two weeks ago I was just getting off of work and called Andrew to tell him I was going home for the day. He said to me, "we are going somewhere at 7, but its a surprise, I'll be home soon." Suddenly my brain is going wild with ideas of what surprise he has come up with. He can get some pretty mischevious ideas so I had no idea what to expect! Once he and his brother Chase walked in to my house he told me that my surprise was season tickets to the Grizzlies hockey games. I was so surprised and very happy! A full season of seeing guys beat the crap out of each other?! don't mind if I do! I was even more happy when he told me they were only $50 since we are students. Finally college paid off for something! Andrew has always been a huge hockey lover and I used to go to games with my best friend growing up and I truly grew a love for the sport and the fighting mostly, lets face it is really entertaining.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">So we picked up Andrew's other brother Tim and headed off to the game. The awesome lady at the ticket counter gave us front row! I literally hadn't even sat down yet and a fight happened directly in front of my face. I have never experienced it so close. I think I gasped. After the fight was over, there was a big wet thing running down the glass, I immediately became physically ill because the guy sitting next to me said it was snot. I'm gagging just thinking about it. The rest of the game I found myself ducking as the puck would fly and hit the glass in front of us. I swear its going to break through one day, it is insane to see that thing flying a million miles an hour right at your face. I also found myself staring in awe and laughing at Andrew as he screamed and banged on the glass non stop at our opponents. At one point, one of the security guards came up to him and told him there was a report that he was yelling profanities and would he please stop. lol!! If you know Andrew you know he doesn't swear. ever. I've literally only heard him swear once in my life at Target, which made my whole day.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Yes that was just the first game's experience.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">During the first intermission of the game they bring out a couple of cars and have a few people shoot the puck from center court. If you make it through the very small hole in the piece of cardboard covering the goal, then you win the car! So Andrew and Tim went and signed up at the Nissan dealership the next day so they would have the chance to shoot the puck. Before the game they went to the Murray ice rink and practiced shooting. They were very serious about this. After the first period they trotted out on the ice in helmets and sticks in hand. I had a very nice image of Andrew and I driving away in a brand new completely free Nissan Altima. So Andrew waltzed to the center of the rink, tapped his stick on the ice and stared down the target. He swung back the stick, sent the puck flying................ and missed wide right, by like a mile. haha! Dream shattered.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Tim shot next and got really close but missed as well. They each got a puck as a souvenier afterwards. Maybe next time boys!
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have to thank my husband for the sweet gift. He always has a surprise up his sleeve and these games will definitely make for fun date nights!
Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-47562410010552215702011-11-20T19:15:00.000-08:002011-11-20T19:15:44.813-08:00Park City, Parties, Pumpkins and PhillyOctober was full of fun! We went up to Park City to celebrate Andrew's dad and step moms birthdays. We rode the sky coaster down the mountain and did some shopping on main street.

We also went to a Halloween party at my cousins house. The theme was fairytale. I cannot believe how fast time goes! After reading my friend's blogs, I realized everyone started their blog right after they got married and I didn't start mine until we had been married a whole year. So since this blog is my life documentary journal I want to post some memories of our first year being married. Andrew and I both have horrible memories so I better write this ridiculously long post before I completely forget!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*When we were registering for gifts Andrew said that he wanted to have a room in our apartment that he got to decorate. I never pegged him as an interior decorator, but I thought it sounded like a fun idea. So we agreed that he could decorate the bathroom (yet somehow all cleaning duties still got put on me.. that was so not part of the agreement). At Target he registered for every monkey themed accessory he could find, and at Bed Bath & Beyond he registered for a surf board-hawaiian theme. The shower curtain he really wanted was a grass skirt! I was getting kind of worried at this point. We ended up with all of the monkey decorations and towels, a blue and brown striped shower curtain, and the surf board garbage can. I was secretly hoping that no one would buy this stuff (thanks Candice!!) but Andrew loved it and yes he did use all of them together including some random pictures we got for our wedding. It actually ended up being the most decorated room in our one bedroom apartment. The only other furniture we started out with was our bed and a card table and chairs.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*Our apartment was right next to a movie theater. It actually made for the best weekend date night. We loved the fact that we could walk to the theater with our re-fillable popcorn bucket in hand and enjoy a $5 movie!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*Andrew's dad and step mom gave us their washer and dryer once we moved in to our apartment because they wanted to purchase newer ones. It was so awesome of them to do that! But we started to notice after a few months of using them that the dryer would not completely dry the clothes in one cycle. We had to keep resetting it and it took forever to get through all of the laundry. One night I noticed that the dryer smelled like it was burning. I got kind of nervous that it was just totally burnt out and breaking. Later that night my cousin Jenni and her bf Brett came over to hang out. I asked them if they could smell the burning aroma coming from the dryer. Brett took a look at it and a few minutes later he pulled out the lint trap that was full of inches of lint!! We hadn't cleaned it out once in the five months we had been using it. It was so embarrassing!! It could have easily caught on fire. Andrew had no idea what a lint trap even was and I just completely forgot you had to clean it out regularly lol. We learned our lesson.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*The first summer being married we took a trip to Vermont and Palmyra NY with Andrew's mom and two of his younger brothers. First of all I have to say that Vermont is quite beautiful and very green. I have never seen so many trees! Within the first few hours there we stumbled across a stellar radio station that deserves mentioning. It was called The Radiator and the dj was a hilarious irishman and they played irish and french music. It was highly entertaining and hilarious. It was the only thing we listened to every time we got in the car.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">While there we went to the teddy bear factory (a lot like build-a-bear) where they take you on a tour of the factory and show you how the bears are made. We also took the tour of the Ben and Jerry's factory and saw how the ice cream was made and even got a delicious sample at the end. It was a lot of fun!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One night we even drove to New Hampshire and ate at a restaurant called Friendly's, just so that we could say we had been to New Hampshire. A funny coincidence is when we got back to our hotel in Vermont we noticed there was a Friendly's restaurant right across the street. ha!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We went to Sharon VT one day and got to see the Joseph Smith monument and the place he was born. The monument is made of granite and it stands 38 1/2 ft tall, one foot for every year of his life. It was an amazing spiritual experience to be there and to be watching a video of his life in the very spot that he was born.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The next day we headed to Palmyra NY. We got to walk through the replicated log home where Joseph Smith and his family lived while he was growing up. In this home is where angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> The Sacred Grove is not too far from the house. It was seriously the most powerful and spiritual feeling walking through the sacred grove and imagining our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appearing to Joseph Smith.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We then went to Hill Cumorah where Moroni led Joseph Smith to retrieve the gold plates.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We even went on a tour of the printing press where the first Book of Mormon was printed. Needless to say it was an incredible experience to see all of these historic sites. (I will post more pics when I dig them out)

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">* Our First Pet!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We were hanging out with our friends Shaun and Jenny one night and they had just gotten a chinchilla. I never knew what a chinchilla was before this day. Andrew and I fell in love with the little hopping fuzz ball! We loved him so much that the next morning we became proud parents of our own chinchilla. We went to the chinchilla farm where our friends had gotten theirs to get our very own. We chose a cute, small two month old girl. She was gray and white and absolutely adorable. We named her Mia. Once we got her home Andrew went to the pet store to buy a cage. He came home with a cage, a little pink bed, a pink bathing container, a pink wheel for her to run on and of course some chinchilla food and her favorite treats - hay and raisins. It melted my heart to see him spoiling our little Mia.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Looking at this picture you see a cute, oh so cuddly, completely sweet and innocent animal right?

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">NOT TRUE!! She belongs in the wild! Let me just tell you all about our crazy, not cuddly little friend.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Mia had so much energy you would have thought she was on speed! Chinchillas are nocturnal so she was up all night running on her wheel as fast as her tiny chinchilla legs could carry her.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-She hated being in her cage. As soon as we would walk in the house she was so excited and she would run up to the door of her cage and stare at you hoping to be let out. If we didn't let her out she would stand on her back legs and ram the cage with her head! And she would make the saddest squealing noises. She did this a lot during the night when her legs were tired of running on the wheel.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Most evenings after work we would let her out to play. We would never get the chance to pick her up and hold her, she was not capable of cuddling! If you held her too long she would bite! Instead she loved running around the room at lightning speed and loved to hide in very dark places. I am not even joking when I say lightning speed. You have no idea how fast these things can run! It was nearly impossible to catch her. We would literally have to corner her to pick her up.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Chinchillas have an incredible ability to jump very high. We would block off the kitchen with boxes but eventually she was able to get over them. Or she would somehow manage to jump on top of the stool and then jump on to the countertop and then down onto the kitchen floor. Her favorite spot to hide was behind the refrigerator or underneath the cupboards. She would stay holed up under the cupoboards forever! I can't even tell you how many hours were spent just trying to lure her out with hay and raisins.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Mia was a clean freak, I'm convinced! Chinchillas take dust baths since their fur is so thick it cannot get wet. They just roll around in a pile of dust in this container. It is hilarious to watch! They are only supposed to bathe a few times a week, but our little Mia would bathe a few times a day if we kept it sitting out and she would go bathe after people had touched her. She was a complete menice but at least she was clean!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now doesn't a pet like that sound like loads of good times??? She was the cause of much stress and required a lot of attention. Chinchillas can get depressed and start losing fur! After a while I just couldn't handle the fact that she was trapped in a cage all day everyday. We are pretty busy people and she didn't get the attention she needed, so around Christmas we gave her away to a nice family with some kids who would love her. We hope she is happy and that she hasn't eaten the children alive!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*Just before our first christmas together Andrew's gramdma aka Grams passed away. She lived in Post Falls, ID. She was a hoot! She was so sweet and loved her family to pieces. As we made the ten hour drive to the funeral we talked about how Andrew took me up to her house while we were dating and all of the funny things she would say. The boys loved to give her a hard time and she dished it out hard. She had some pretty grusome threats (ovbiously not serious) and they were the funniest things I have ever heard. Here are a few of our favorite Grams sayings (or at least the ones I had the pleasure of hearing in the short time of knowing her).

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"I will cut your ears off!"

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"I will hang you by your toes and let you starve!"

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"This is the sargeant speaking, you have ten seconds to get to this door!" Of course she was yelling this at the boys because they were running late and she had places to go.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"I will come after you with a rifle." She threatened Andrew with this because when we were dating he told her I was pregnant.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We love and miss Grams but we know she is very happy in heaven!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*Our First Christmas
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Yes we are those people who do all of our christmas shopping 1-2 days before christmas. Its actually really awful and stressful so I hope we get better at that. Our first Christmas together we bought a small pre lit christams tree and headed to Hobby Lobby (my fav store) to find some ornaments. I had no idea Andrew was going to impulsively grab one box of every color of ornament! Finally I had to tell him our tree wasn't nearly that big. So we decided on a Jazz themed tree. We had basketball ornaments and the jazz colors - purple, blue, and silver. It was awesome!!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We made a promise we weren't going to spend much money on each other. Andrew got me the camera I had been wanting and I got him a pedal board for his guitar. Of course we both secretly went out and bought smaller items for each other. On Christmas Eve Andrew proved why he should have gotten coal for Christmas. We came to an agreement that we could open one present from each other. Andrew opened the two seasons of Flight of The Concords (I know I'm the best wife ever). He gave me a small wrapped present and when I opened it I found my ipod.. the one I have had for years and had been looking for for days!! I had a good laugh about that, but kindly demanded a real present. So he gave me another wrapped gift, this time I opened my deodarant... yes once again the deodarant I was currently using. Still laughing I thought to myself, "oh my gosh he totally just wrapped up all of my stuff that I already have!" And of course Andrew was enjoying every minute of his stealthy schemes. Finally he gave me a box full of Dr. Pepper! He hit the jackpot and totally redeemed himself. The rest of the day was spent with my family at our annual Christmas Eve bash. We spent Christmas morning with Andrew's mom and brothers and got to talk to his brother Tim who was still on a mission at the time. Later that day we had lunch and more gift opening with Andrew's dad and step mom. And that night we had a big dinner party at his aunt's house. Even though we end up celebrating every holiday and birthday about three times with all of the families we have, there is never a dull moment and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">*As 2011 rang in and our apt lease ended, we decided to move in with my grandma to save up money for school and maybe a house. It is here that we spent our one year anniversary! We went out to a nice dinner at Macaroni Grill. I don't care who you are you cannot refuse their brownie dessert! It is kind of hard coming up with a gift for your one year anniversary. So I decided to get Andrew some personalized guitar pics. On one side it has a picture of us and the other side says "Happy 1 Year I Love You". They turned out awesome!! He got me some of my favorite perfume and flowers. Everyone says the first year is the hardest.. if that was hard then we are going to have an incredibly happy life together. I love Andrew so so much and I am so grateful he came into my life! What a great year full of great memories and many many more to come.
Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-82767818351353448942011-09-24T16:18:00.000-07:002011-09-27T12:13:37.755-07:00Falling Apart!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I just discovered this past week that at age 23 your body starts to fall apart! For the past little while I have noticed that my jaw will get a really tired feeling at radom times during the day and ache a little bit. I had no idea why. I know what some of you are thinking and it is not because of THAT you sickos!! haha.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway last weekend my jaw on the left side had a constant pain when I would open my mouth or even touch it. Then I started feeling pain all down my neck and noticed a little bit of swelling. I got pretty concerned so I went to the dentist to get checked out. What I heard him say was, "You have a dysfunctional face." I was instantly confused. But what he really said was that I have a jaw muscle dysfunciton and I am showing signs of TMJ. I guess my jaw is out of alignment and my bite is off so it is now affecting my jaw muscles and chewing muscles. I'm frustrated because I have no idea how this happened or when! He sent me on my way with some muscle relaxers and told me to come back when the swelling went down and he would have to create a bite splint for me to wear so he can figure out where my teeth are off. I instantly had an image of myself walking around with head gear lol. Luckily that is not the case. I might have had a break down.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well little did I know I was going to have an allergic reaction to the muscle relaxer. It was probably the scariest thing that has happened to me. I was acting like a weirdie on very powerful drugs. I couldn't stand up without falling over, everything was like slow motion, my heart was racing so fast, I was on the verge of passing out, and my face was starting to swell even more on the left side. This lasted for about a half hour until I could really calm down. Andrew being the sweet husband that he is gave me a blessing which helped a lot! The next night I sat down to watch my recording of America's Next Top Model. A few minutes later Andrew said, "Why are you watching this? You watched the whole episode last night." Apparently that drug erased some of my memory! I have absolutely no recollection of watching it or anything I did for that matter after the reaction stopped. So weird!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Luckily the reaction didn't do anything serious. I just look like I gained five pounds in my face and I have a small tumor like feeling bump over my left jaw. The doctor just said to never take that medicine again and to take an anti inflammatory and keep ice on my face so the swelling goes down. He also said I would have a sore throat because of the reaction. Not fun!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Its been a rough few days. I think the most disappointing part is that I found out today my jaw does not appreciate chocolate marshmallow mateys. It so hard to chew!! I am restricted to soft foods for now and as little chewing as possible. Ay yi yi. I have no idea how long it will take to correct this dysfunction but I am really hoping that none of my other body parts decide to fail me right now. Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-38670743181409402832011-09-13T13:37:00.000-07:002011-09-14T10:14:16.155-07:00Pics of Summer<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Just for fun I want to add some pictures from events that happened this summer. Its been full of camping, weddings, and moving. Hopefully I can have pics up soon. School is back in session and it's back to a very busy schedule and not being able to see my husband much. It will all be worth it one day! Andrew has about two more years left of school and I probably have about that much left too depending on what I decide to do with my life. I really just want to be a stay at home mom but also want some type of degree to fall back on and just to feel like I accomplished something and also to be able to go back to once my kids are in school all day. So since the stay at home mom part isn't quite in progress yet, I will try to love night classes.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We are officially moved into our apartment and really loving it! We love the area, and our neighbors (minus the smokers). It is literally about 5 minutes from both of our works so it is lovely to go home for lunch and take a nap or watch tv. It is also close to trax which is great for Andrew since he has transferred to the U. I even have some cute decorations up! I know I previously posted about a great couch find..well listen to this! Over labor day we decided we were going to try and find the matching love seat for our sofa. So we went to another location of Knights Furniture and as soon as we walked in we saw it! I made sure to ask the sales associate if the couch color was mocha because that is the color we currently have, and he said yes it was. I was so excited it was so easy to find! They were selling the sofa and love seat together for a great deal. We asked them if we could just buy the love seat and they weren't too keen on splitting up the pair but after Andrew's great negogtiating we walked out with an awesome deal on the love seat. Once Andrew and his brother got it into our apartment he called me and told me that the new love seat is in fact a whole shade darker than our sofa. I couldn't believe it!! So we decided to go back to the furniture store and found out the color of the love seat was actually cocoa not mocha!! So we ended up buying the matching cocoa sofa and now we are trying to sell the mocha couch. Good riddance! I didn't know furniture shopping could be so stressful.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We will also be switching wards soon. I am so sad to leave our little primary class. The kids absolutely adore Andrew it is really the cutest thing ever. He handles it all so well and I don't know what I would if I had to be in there without him. Teaching this class has taught me that I need to be more diligent with my scripture study. One time while I was teaching a cute little boy made a comment and I had to whisper to Andrew, "is that true?" haha! It wasn't a true comment, but I would have believed it! I am really going to miss them!!Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-84321182744820072742011-08-18T15:20:00.000-07:002011-09-12T13:06:50.922-07:00OW!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Its been a busy couple of weeks trying to get everything ready for our new apartment. Packing has got to be the worst thing on the planet! However I am super excited to get everything in our new place and all set up. A few weeks ago we stumbled across a furniture store that was closing and we found a really nice couch, (even the perfect color that I wanted) for a really great price! After that find I got really excited and had all these ideas for the living room. So I went to target and found a bookcase.. an impossibly heavy bookcase I might add. As I was lifting the box from the cart into my car, I hurt my shoulder. It was a really bad pain! The next day I ended up falling on our roller blading adventure (a whole nother story for another time) and hurt it even more. The past two weeks it has just killed to lift anything at all and simple things like lifting my arm to put on my makup, rolling up the car window and typing are so painful. sleeping is also difficult because it just throbs. Finally I went to a physical therapist to get it checked out. It turns out I strained my rotator cuff and will be needing physical therapy for a little bit. It is feeling slightly better now, but lifting is still out of the question. Perfect timing since we are moving this weekend! I don't really mind just supervising :) I really need to get myself a better story as to how this injury happened.. hahaLindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-91875731466610281132011-08-05T13:26:00.000-07:002012-02-11T22:10:21.004-08:00Oh Happy Day!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Andrew and I just got called to be primary teachers in our ward. We have the 7-8 year old class. The kids are hilarious! There are about 6 boys and 1 girl.. so naturally its a bit of a rowdy group. We have only taught once so far, but it is so fun! During our first class we played a get to know you question game. Their first question was, "how tall are you?" and then there was a bunch of giggling because they are nearly as tall as me.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">One little boy asked andrew, "do you have a girlfriend?" Andrew said, "no, I have a wife." and the little boy repsonded, "well yeah, but do you have a girlfriend?" lol!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">That same little boy later on asked us how long we have been married. We told him we've been married for almost a year and a half. He got this shocked look on his face and said, "and you don't have a baby yet?? You need to have one tomorrow!" Haha I can't even count how many times I have been asked the whole when are you having a baby question, but I never thought I would be reprimanded by an 8 year old! I guess by Utah terms we are a little behind schedule..
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">So far thats all of the primary fun I have to share. In other news, Andrew and I just found a nice apartment. Not sure if we're switching wards or not yet. I would love to stay since we just became teachers, but our new church would be extremely closer to where we will be living. We are so excited to have our own place again! It's not quite a house yet, but we we will get there eventually. We are just so excited to be on our own! I have a ton of cute ideas on how to decorate and I cannot wait to get started. Although decorating on a tight budget does take time.. its so fun to dream. I also promised him that once we got in to our own place, I would be better about cooking dinner. I like the idea of being a good cook, but when it comes down to actually cooking I just don't love it. My idea of a great dinner is cereal, or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Its both easy and super delicious. But, I know that practice makes perfect, and I will learn to make things eventually!!Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316065355423136592.post-38927953741487868582011-07-06T14:58:00.000-07:002011-09-12T13:07:26.857-07:004th of July<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For our 4th of July celebration we went to Andrew's family reunion in Blanding. That Friday the town was hosting a softball tournament which Andrew and Tim had signed up to play. (ps. Tim got home form his mission a few weeks ago. It has been fun to have him back home. Andrew is loving it!) The tournament started at 6 and after five hours of driving we pulled up to the fields at 5:50. Just in time! The tournament literally went until 7 am the next morning. Although our team ending up losing around 4:30 am, they did awesome and it was super fun to watch.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The next day we headed up to the campground. I can proudly admit that I learned how to set up a tent! I am not one who loves camping, but I decided that I wasn't going to be a total girl about the situation and know how to survive in what I call 'the wild.' I still hate bugs, campfire smoke, and the endless dirt but it went well.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We spent the rest of the weekend 4 wheeling and bike riding, and some jumped in the swamp like lake that was near. By sheer dumb luck I made it to the final round of the super intense ring toss game that the family plays each year. It was a close call but I was beat down by Andrew's cousin Craig. Next year the plaque is mine!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Monday we went into town to watch the parade. Molly looked super cute out there in her cheer uniform. It brought back lots of memories for me! After the parade Andrew, Tim and Chase were signed up for the big basketball tournament at the park. It felt like it was 100 degrees outside! We all proudly cheered them on as they battled the Blanding natives. A few hours later they lost and we headed home. It was a fun experience!!Lindsey and Andrew Pollockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15313514720056258342noreply@blogger.com0
